The Duck & Bunny

I have wanted to go to The Duck & Bunny for a very long time and finally, after two years, I finally made it for brunch.

Since I've been living in Newport, I have started to slip into the habits of a typical Aquidneck Island-er--why leave the Island if you don't have to? Among other reasons, this is why it's taken two years for me to get over to Wickenden Street.

Katherine, one of my friends from high school who goes to school in Providence, was my accomplice for this happy excursion. She ordered the Portuguese Sweet Bread French Toast with Maple Berry Compote and I ordered the "Eggs Bun-a-Duck" Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Rosemary Focaccia.

Like how adorable is "Eggs Bun-a-Duck" as a nickname? It doesn't get better than that...

Unless you happen to order one of the freshly baked cupcakes for dessert. I enjoyed a mocha cupcake with the pot of White Peony tea.

I didn't get any pictures to show off The Duck and Bunny's interior decor, but it's beautiful inside. I felt pretty comfortable in the French-inspired atmosphere* and look forward to stopping by again soon...

*It doesn't hurt that the seat I was in resembles a throne--you can kind of see half of it on the right side of this picture

BROODS "First Contact" Concert with 95.5 WBRU

Ever since "Bridges" became a hit, I have become a huge fan of the New Zealand brother-sister duo band, BROODS.

I was so excited to hear about BROODS coming to Providence and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them.

Even though I had a very busy day at work the next day, this BROODS show would probably be the most convenient to get to--with their Evergreen album tour, the band will be traveling all over, including Australia in November.

I had asked my friend Katherine to come with me and once the show was over, she confessed that she too became a BROODS fan. Georgia Knott, the lead singer, has an amazing voice live.

Besides the music, it was quite an exciting show for another reason--the fire alarm went off at the venue and three firetrucks showed up.

Styleweek August 2013

Since I became aware of Styleweek Northeast two years ago, I have never gone to a Styleweek show in Providence until last Friday. In the past, I volunteered at Au Courant in Newport, Styleweek's benefit for Child and Family, but never had the time to run "all the way" to Providence juggling school or work.

I reported the finale of Styleweek for Andrea of Newport Stylephile by taking a bunch of photos on my digital camera, as well as rapid fire social media legwork on Twitter and Instagram. Until everything's posted on Newport Stylephile, I don't want to give too much away, so here's a few pictures from the accessory showcase:

I loved these fragrances by Roberta Andrade! Based in Boston, her fragrances are the perfect touch to any outfit. The two fragrances I fell in love with were "Water" and "No. 13"

A Weekend with Lobsters, Ice Cream, and Jimmies

Between beginning the weekend in Narragansett, staying in Boston, visiting North Smithfield, driving to Providence, then taking the bus to Newport, I am exhausted.

On Friday night, we had dinner at Twin Willows with my aunt, cousin, and her son.

I left for Boston Saturday morning to visit my boyfriend, who is currently doing summer research at his university. From South Station, we walked around the shops in the city centre where the big H&M is. We took the T back to his apartment then baked cupcakes before heading out to dinner on Newbury Street.

We meant to go to an Italian restaurant we had been before, but because of a long wait, we chose to eat outside at Charley's. For dessert, we visited my boyfriend's friend who works at an ice cream shop in Quincy Market.

This morning my boyfriend and I had brunch in the dorm--Eggo waffles served with strawberries and sparkling white grape juice. Afterwards, we took the train to Providence and  met up with his friend again, along with his girlfriend, before heading to the friend's father's birthday cookout in North Smithfield. It was a perfect day for a lobster lunch and birthday cake.

I caught the bus back to Newport while my boyfriend took the commuter rail back to Boston. We had a great weekend and I definitely want to go back to Boston again soon.
