A lot of people hate moving.
I finished moving recently and it wasn't terrible—this is only because I didn't have a ton of stuff to move.
Moving is still annoying—even if you just move a few neighborhoods away—but I think the key is to not collect unnecessary things. In the end, we're all better off carrying less baggage.
The sheer volume can overwhelm you.
Since my last apartment was furnished, I had to buy furniture. With the exception of a twin mattress and headboard from my parents' house, I found the rest of my bedroom furniture at yard sales during Memorial Day weekend and (gulp) Craigslist. I'll blog about each piece individually—the Craigslist stories are particularly interesting—but it was amazing how people were so willing to let go of their things at a minimal cost.
