Find of the Week | 44

I've been treating the fashion and beauty preparation for my alma mater's winter gala like my term papers—elegantly presented, but barely finished in time for the deadline.

I had three specific goals in mind while shopping—I needed to find a white dress, wanted to buy locally in Newport as much as possible and somehow stay within a reasonable budget.

By nothing short of a miracle, I was able to find most of my outfit.

I found a full-length, champagne J.Crew formal gown at Wish Consignment, gilded gold earrings at Kristina Richards and a gold Haarstick ring at Chateau & Bungalow. This is definitely one of my more glorious shopping moments—not only did I spend less than $100 on the outfit, but it also took less than an hour to shop.

With less than two weeks until Salve Regina University's 40th Annual Governor's Ball, I am officially ready to go!

Holiday Shopping Parties in Newport

The season's begun for Christmas in Newport!

If you're checking off your holiday shopping list, you may as well have fun doing it. Here's a round-up of stores in Newport who want to help you spread holiday cheer in style.

Bellevue Avenue Holiday Stroll
Thursday, Dec. 3 at 3-7PM

If you're planning on doing your holiday shopping in Newport, this is the time to do it. Participating stores will have special offers and light refreshments to keep up the good holiday cheer on Bellevue and surrounding streets!

Find your holiday decor and hostess gifts at Chateau & Bungalow on William Street, spruce up your winter wardrobe with a few cashmere sweaters and premium denim at Laura Jean on Bellevue Avenue, then make your way up the street to find more amazing gifts for you and your loved ones!

Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 3-7PM

As much as we love adding to our own wishlists for Christmas, it's always important to give back for all of the wonderful things in your life that you may take for granted. NewportFILM is a non-profit that makes a difference by engaging with the local and tourist communities about real-world issues—if you're an Aquidneck Island resident, this is an amazing organization in your backyard worth supporting.

Thursday, Dec. 10 at 5-8PM

If this event isn't one-stop shopping, then I don't know what is...

newportFILM Iris Film Screening and Picnic Contest

Once you witness newportFILM's picnic contest at one of their outdoor film screenings, you'll be inspired to sip nothing finer than champagne and eat nothing more decadent than catered sandwiches and macarons.

newportFILM screened "IRIS," a documentary on Iris Apfel fashion's "geriatric starlet" and renowned style icon—it only made sense to pay homage to Iris by having one of Newport's most stylish contests in her honor.

The rest of newportFILM's summer lineup is fantastic—the next screening, "The Diplomat," will take place on Thursday, July 23 at the Redwood Library.

Chateau & Bungalow

Last week, I went to a Green Drinks networking event for the Aquidneck Land Trust at a lifestyle and home boutique called Chateau & Bungalow. It's the perfect place to buy Christmas gifts for your friends who love entertaining and design.

Chateau & Bungalow also has a collection of vintage designer consignment... I'm pretty sure these Christian Louboutins are my size, but I am too afraid to try them on because I know I'll buy them if they fit...
