Giving Thanks

It is always amazing how people underestimate the power of recognizing, acknowledging and spreading gratitude towards one another--I know I am as guilty as anyone else for not reflecting enough on the support of family, the generosity of friends, and even the random acts of kindness from strangers.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that celebrates gratitude, but reflection of gratitude should not be made a novelty. Gratitude should be a part of everyone's daily routine, just like making a cup of tea in the morning or going for a walk in the afternoon.

Sometimes it is hard to maintain a gracious attitude when life throws us seemingly insurmountable, unbearable obstacles:  failing the certification test, losing a job, experiencing a mid-life/quarter-life crisis (being 20something is not as easy as it used to be), breaking up with someone you love...

Or even worse, losing someone when you did not have the chance to say "I'm sorry" or "I love you" until it's too late...

Yet, it is the moments like those and others--surviving natural disasters, combating oppressive forces--that enable us to be grateful for what, and who, has remained with us. When the world seems like it's slipping further away us, we hold each other closer together.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
